SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Earlier this month, police say four teens broke into Alliance Bank Stadium and stole from the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund's booth. The organization is dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer.

Laurence Segal is a member of the Research Fund. He has dedicated his life to helping women and men stricken with breast cancer.

"My mom had a double mastectomy in 1987 because she was guaranteed she would get breast cancer during her lifetime," said Segal. "We believe in what we do, we believe in our cause and we believe in our leader Carol Baldwin who works everyday of her life to raise money for this organization," said Segal.

But about two weeks ago, police say four teens were caught on surveillance video inside Alliance Bank Stadium. They broke into the stadium and destroyed the booth, stealing hundreds of dollars worth of property.

"It’s upsetting because so many people work so hard at this fund," explained Segal, "The way they (the thieves) ravaged through the booth with such carelessness, it was terribly upsetting."

The teens took lanyards, key chains and jewelry, all items that fund research to help people like Julie Lobato survive.

"I think it’s terrible because if you haven't had to go through the situation, you don't know how important that money is and that really hurts people like us," said Lobato.

Segal just hopes justice is served.

"A penny taken from this organization is too much,” said Segal. “I hope they would have the courage to come forward and admit that they did this and at least return the merchandise that they stole and apologize for what they did. That's my fervent hope," said Segal.
